No. 4 spot for the third game in a row on Tuesday, this time against Baltimore
right-hander Tommy Hunter. "(Encarnacion) has emerged as our four-hole
hitter," manager John Farrell said. "That's the way we're going right
now." The six previous times Encarnacion started as the cleanup hitter
were against a left-handed starter and he batted 6-for-24 (.250) with one homer
and three RBI in those games. Left-handed-hitting 1B Adam Lind, who has usually
batted fourth except against left-handed starters, batted fifth on Tuesday.
